Graphic design
Posters and visual concepts where one strong idea carries the whole composition.
Isabel Contreras · Creative Portfolio
I am a multidisciplinary designer who likes finding the idea that makes everything click. I move between research, image-making, typography and a lot of testing until the work feels clear, intentional and still a little unexpected.
What I make
Some projects begin with type, others with an image or a messy sketch. What I enjoy most is figuring out what the project actually needs and building a visual language around that.
Posters and visual concepts where one strong idea carries the whole composition.
Layouts where hierarchy, pacing and typography make the content feel like it has a voice.
Digital work that stays clear and useful while still feeling playful and personal.
Why the thread?
It started as a visual detail, but it became a way for me to describe how I think.
It reminds me of my curly hair, the red thread of fate, knots that take patience, and the way one idea can lead to another. I like that it can feel playful and a little chaotic while still connecting everything together.
I do not want my work to feel overly polished just for the sake of looking perfect. I want people to see the thinking, the experiments and the small decisions that made the final piece what it is.
How I work
My process is not very linear, but these three moments show up in almost every project. Sometimes I move through them in order. Most of the time I bounce between all three.
I start by understanding what I am trying to say, who it is for and which questions are actually worth following.
This is the messy part. I test ideas, make things that do not work and usually find something interesting in the middle of it.
Then I edit. I keep what is doing real work and remove what is only making the project louder.
A few things I care about
I like being able to explain why a visual choice belongs in the project.
Type, spacing, rhythm and interaction can change how the whole idea feels, so I treat them as part of the concept from the beginning.
A system can be functional and still have humor, surprise and a point of view.
